Graphical Signal Manipulation Interface

GSMI is an interactive graphical signal analysis tool that visualizes log-based signal data, enables real-time inspection and modification of signals, supports drag-and-drop workpages with customizable widgets, and simplifies system behavior testing through intuitive exploration and plotting of complex signal datasets.

Overview

Signal data in log files is hard to read, analyze, and monitor, making anomaly detection difficult. Changing signal values often requires modifying a test procedures, recompiling and waiting for its execution. GSMI solves this by providing a visual interface for understanding signal behavior, enabling interactive ad-hoc signal modification, supporting manual testing, and integrates smoothly into existing test procedures for faster, more flexible analysis.

Integration with RT-Tester

GSMI’s client/server architecture enables seamless integration with the RT-Tester test environment, allowing signal visualization and interaction directly alongside automated test execution. It provides a powerful solution for both manual and hybrid-automated testing workflows, bridging the gap between scripted validation and human-driven analysis. By making live signal data accessible and modifiable, GSMI also unlocks true exploratory testing, empowering users to investigate system behavior dynamically, identify edge cases faster, and gain deeper insight into complex test scenarios.

Core Functionality

GSMI supports the setup of dedicated Workpages where users can organize signals via drag-and-drop, enabling flexible arrangement and grouping of signal widgets for new, predefined or recurring experiments. The system supports multiple widget types, including standard data-type-based widgets, table views, and plotter visualizations. It also offers custom widgets designed for specific sub-device functionalities, such as A350 ML use cases, allowing tailored analysis and improved visualization of complex signal behavior. The built-in Signal Explorer lists all defined testbed signals with search and filter capabilities and thus, allows to easily find and use the relevant signals for your ad-hoc testing activities even if your system and test handles 100.000 or more signals.

HSI-Testing for Oxygen Supply Controller

Since 2011, Verified Systems delivered DO-178B DAL-B HSI testing for Airbus A350 OSCM using RT-Tester, fault injection, target-based testing, full requirements coverage, code coverage measurement, WCET analysis, and qualified toolchains; A350F follow-up ongoing. GSMI is employed to execute manual tests in combination with automated RT-Tester test procedures.
